Where it all began
I always tell folks I started writing when I was 13 years old. Truth, is I started at 10 years old. My parents bought us a desktop computer for the house. So, one morning I woke up randomly to find my way to the computer, and I just started typing away in Word doc. It ended fast because my brother noticed I was writing about a boy and he told on me, lmao. Our dad simultaneously walked in the computer room as my brother read the words I was typing. I didn’t get far into my story before he told our dad, “Ooow, Tia in here writing about a man”. I felt like I needed to defend myself, so I did. I said, “No, I’m not. I’m writing about a boy”. Our dad probably just wanted to end the fussing, so he said, “You don’t need to be writing about none of that”. Lol, I stopped right then and there.
Two years later, I got my spark back from none other than “Thugalicious” by Noire. I mean, wow. I was flabbergasted at her ability to keep me engaged and her imagery skill. One thing I loved while growing up, before writing and everything, was movies. I loved movies so much while I was growing up. My parents had so many movies on our movie rack and I would sit in the house and watch all of them. Sometimes I would watch my favorite one’s over and over again. My sister, hated that, lmao. But movies was my thing. So, when I read Thugalicious by Noire, that was the first time I’d read a book where I could picture each scene like I was watching a movie, and that’s when I knew, oh, books could be like movies.
I was hooked. As soon as I closed that book, I said, I want to write. I started writing that day. My first book was just like Thugalicious, lmao. But it was move like, what if this happened instead of that happening. At the time I didn’t know there was a name for something like that. Now I know it’s called fanfiction, at the time I was just inspired to write stories. But no worry, my next book after that one was my own imagination, and 20 years later, here I am. I have written countless characters, and many different storylines. Characters that may never be shared to the public. Stories that just needed to be told in the moment and stories I couldn’t stop writing. Characters I’ve hated and characters that has inspired me to keep going.
This journey hasn’t been an easy one for me at all. Though, I love writing very much. It has been times I’ve experienced writer’s block that lasted a lot longer than I had anticipated. Times when I wanted to desperately write and nothing would come out. Those were the harder times through this journey, but I kept going and living and pushing and trying. I’m just happy that I have now decided to share those stories with the public.
I’m looking forward to seeing where this journey will take me now, and if you read all of this, hopefully you want to know me a little better as a writer, and you may want to see where the journey takes me as well. So, to that, I say thank you for chilling with me and checking me out. I can’t wait to share more of my work with you.
